Herbs and their uses have always been close to the heart at the Berkshire Botanical Garden. The Herb Garden was built and planted in 1937 from a design by landscape architect Edward F. Belches. Over the years the garden has been featured in many publications, notably in 1943 on the cover of Horticulture Magazine, and in 1994 in The Herb Companion. |

Summer brings the full richness of culinary herbs, many of which are annuals. | ||

In 1957 a group of Garden members started a volunteer organization called The Herb Associates. The objective of the group was to raise funds for the Garden by growing, harvesting and processing herbs. Today, more than forty years later, the Herb Associates are still meeting weekly, making their herb products for sale in our gift shop. |
