Plantings: The branches on the upper left are those of a copper beech. At the back of the bed are: Digitalis grandiflora, Lilium 'Casa Rosa', Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate', Hosta 'Gold Regal'; the curving flower stems of the maroon leafed Cimicifuga ramosa 'Hillside Black Beauty' may be see at the far right rear.
The large clump of tall, bright blue flowers on the right is Tradescantia 'Purple Profusion'. To its left is a drift of Lamiastrum galeobdolon 'Herman's Pride', with on its left Hosta 'Wolverine' - with a yellow edge to its leaves. The small yellow grass in front is Hakonechloa macra.
