Plantings:
To the rear, Sambucus nigra , the European elder; climbing up into it can be seen the white flowers of Clematis 'Henryi'; behind the red spires of Astilbe arendsii 'Fanal' is Corydalis lutea; to the right is Allium sphaerocephalum; the purplish mat in front is Adjuga 'Purple Crispa', with a clump of Heuchera "Palace Purple'.
