When the garden opens in May, one of the most colorful places to visit is the carpet of primroses nestled among trees in the lower part of the garden..

By June, the Procter Garden is lush. These are plantings from the shady side of the garden. Click on the image to get a full view and planting information.

Also by early June, the well-established deGersdorff garden shows a harmonious blend of sun-loving perennials and grasses. Click on the image to see its full beauty and planting information.

Later in June, the herb garden is an aromatic place to visit. Seen here above left looking down from the Center House toward the rose garden and on the right looking up. It has groupings of culinary, medicinal and aromatic herbs.

Reached through the arbor at the bottom of the Herb Garden, the cottage garden seen here in June is lush with foliage and spring flowers.

In front of the visitor center the hosta bed shows the variety of form, texture and shades of green found in one plant family. The aliums in the background show beautifully in front of tall ferns.
