Join Alex Klein for a Fall Plant Walk in the Garden on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Plants might be potent medicine, delicious food, fine craft, or building material (or all of those things at once), but they also hold stories, memories and connections our human ancestors have formed with the landscape.
Discover the hidden textures and forms of plant life in this hands-on studio session that blends botanical foraging and gelli plate printing on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In this talk held on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Amy Meltzer will explore the current biodiversity crisis and the evolutionary relationships among native plants, insects, birds, and fungi that support ecosystem survival. (Heidi Dollard, co-Chair of the Massachusetts Pollinator Network, will substitute for Amy Meltzer)
Berkshire Botanical Garden will celebrate the arrival of fall with our annual Harvest Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10–11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The harvest is in, but the herbal goodness continues. Find the Herb Associates’ handcrafted products in the Gift Shop while the volunteers take a winter break and prepare for their 70th anniversary celebration next spring.
This week, let nature do the heavy lifting: Turn fallen leaves into garden gold, forage for woodland treasures and coax a little more life from your lettuce and spring bulbs. And while the air is crisp and the soil just right, discover the gardener’s secret to a thriving garden next year: building better soil today.
As the garden season winds down, Bay Laurel heads indoors for a winter retreat while fragrant Heliotrope takes its final purple bow, and both leave plenty of stories (and scents) behind. Meanwhile, the Herb Associates are busy brewing up Harvest Marmalade, stuffing catnip mice and stocking handmade goodies just in time for the Harvest Festival!
