Native Plants for Year Round Interest
Berkshire Botanical Garden
Transform your garden into a stunning, season-spanning landscape with the power of native plants. Instructor Duncan Himmelman will guide you through the beauty and benefits of incorporating native trees, shrubs and perennials into your outdoor spaces on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. Discover a wide range of plants perfectly suited to your local environment — bringing vibrant color, rich texture and ecological value from spring through winter. Whether you’re refreshing your garden or starting from scratch, this class will inspire and inform your next planting season.
Duncan Himmelman earned his doctorate at Cornell University and taught horticultural science at the college level for 24 years. He recently retired as the education manager at Mt. Cuba Center, a public garden in Delaware devoted to native plant advocacy. He enjoys teaching, designing landscapes and promoting ecologically focused gardening practices.
