Berkshire Botanical Garden
Step into herbal alchemy and explore oxymels, an ancient blend of honey and vinegar used to extract and preserve plant properties. In this hands-on workshop on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 3 p.m., herbalist Nicole Irene introduces the history, uses and versatility of oxymels as a foundation for the home apothecary. You’ll taste a variety of prepared blends, learn how different herbs support the body through seasonal shifts, and explore the basics of creating balanced formulations. Working with a curated selection of herbs, roots and spices, you’ll craft your own oxymel to take home in an intuitive, exploratory process. All materials are included; no experience necessary.
Nicole Irene holds a master’s degree in fine art, two herbal certifications from Dandelion Herbal Center and Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, and is a Reiki-trained ordained minister. Nicole has a love for local farms and sustainable, organic agriculture, and enjoys cooking nourishing meals and experimenting with her own herbal preparations at her home in Stockbridge. She has a deep passion for helping to grow the relationships we hold with our food, the earth and the cosmos. Learn more about Nicole Irene at NicoleIreneArt.com and TheEnchantedAltar.com.
