Until Spring, a Fond Farewell from Herb Associates
By Barbara F. Smith
With the Harvest Festival behind us, the tight-knit group of volunteers who plant, tend and harvest what grows in Berkshire Botanical Garden's Herb Display and Production Gardens, who create culinary magic in the warm and cool kitchens and who perform all the related necessary tasks to make herbal products for sale to benefit the Garden — all known as the “Herb Associates” — will be taking a hiatus for season.
Our products will still be available at BBG's Gift Shop, should you be passing by, so stop in and shop. Or, if you’re taking a class or participating in any other event at the wonderful Garden that we call home, do drop by the Gift Shop and enjoy the products of our efforts. We are a great source of locally grown, hand-made items perfect for special occasions or holiday gift giving, too. Over the course of the summer, we make jellies, dressings, vinegars, sauces, shrubs, vinaigrettes, teas, finishing salts, catnip mice, and more! Keep us in mind.
Accompanying photos depict many of our members, maybe you know some of us? Stay tuned for our return next spring, when we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Herb Associates volunteering at Berkshire Botanical Garden. In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing interest in all things herbal!
