CANCELED Poetry in Place

When:
Friday, October 20, 2023
Where:

Berkshire Botanical Garden

This event has been postponed due to rainy weather. If you registered you will be receiving an email that confirms the rescheduled date.

Join Mariah Baca, Berkshire Botanical Garden's manager of Membership and Development Operations, ramblin' gal and herbalist, for an evening of community engagement and reflection through spoken word and poetry on Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. What is the essence of place? The Mohican Lands/Western Massachusetts will be the “Place” for the launch of this poetry series. The night will begin with tea followed by a mindful walk through the native meadow and ends with a casual on-site poetry workshop that will commence with a spoken word "circle" by the lotus fountain. Come to read, write and reflect on the essence of place.

All ages are encouraged. Please wear comfortable shoes and layers. Paper, tea and pens will be provided for participants. Public reading is optional.

My form does not exist
My form is like the mist
it is in the midst
Of springs iridescent fleshy dew

If you
must form feelings
Form me into this meadow
Bury me
into this meadow
Let me rise
In my fallen
Free formed
Free from form
Only for the lashes of the clovers
To truly ever know

- Mariah B.

It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are working, practicing and gathering on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land.
