Cultivating Mushrooms: Connecting to the Hidden Fungal Network
Berkshire Botanical Garden
Join Willie Crosby of Fungi Ally for a dynamic, hands-on introduction to mushroom cultivation on Sat., May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. This two-hour workshop blends practical learning with ecological insight, teaching participants how fungi can be cultivated for nutrition, medicine, and environmental restoration. Together, we’ll explore three versatile mushrooms — wine cap, shiitake and oyster — and practice key techniques like building a wood-chip bed and inoculating hardwood logs. Participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to grow mushrooms at home and deepen their connection to the hidden fungal networks that sustain life.
