Plants and Answers
Be-a-Better-Gardener Plant Sale

New this year: Pre-ordered box lunches and the Be-a-Better-Gardener Q&A booth.

Traditionally held on Mother’s Day weekend, the Plants and Answers Be-a-Better-Gardener Plant Sale began in 1977 as BBG’s harbinger of spring for gardeners in the Berkshires and beyond. This year’s sale includes more than 180 species/cultivars of native plants with more than a thousand woody and herbaceous plants displayed by habitat including plants for sunny areas, beds and borders, dry areas, plants for the woodland edge, as well as annuals (most grown at BBG). Also select from tropicals, vines, divisions of perennials dug from BBG display gardens, organic vegetable and herb plants, and hanging baskets in addition to many plants donated by nurseries from throughout the tri-state area. Featured are a selection of plants which attract bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators. Popular succulent tabletop containers will once again be available along with the Garden’s signature cone-shaped hanging container arrangements.

“Ask Me” BBG staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer design and gardening questions. New this year is the Plants-and-Answers Q&A booth staffed by the Western Massachusetts Master Gardeners Association as well as gardening professionals who will also provide practical advice on growing and caring for plants. A select group of vendors will offer a variety of services and products, and a book sale and silent auction are scheduled for both days. Pre-orderd box lunches will be available.

All proceeds from the Plant Sale support the Garden’s horticulture and education programs. Garden members receive early buying privileges and a discount on BBG plant purchases. Free admission and free parking.
