Youth and Family Programs

Family Programs

BBG is a great place for families to explore the wonders of the natural world through workshops, demonstrations and hands-on experiences related to science, art, and animals. Our popular summer Family Friday series explores the natural history of animals and the contributions they make to a healthy ecosystem.  All programs are free with Garden admission.

Farm and Garden School Programs

Berkshire Botanical Garden brings hands-on programming to schools and community sites, both during and after school. We offer year-round, site-based cirricula and instruction for elementary through middle school students. Working in tandem with our educators, students engage in meaningful work both in the classrooms and in their school gardens, with each program uniquely catered to the needs of the school community.

Farm in the Garden Camp

Our popular summer day camp for children ages 5-12 is designed to nurture the seeds of earth stewardship by connecting children to our food system, environment and to one another. Farm in the Garden Camp provides time, space, and guidance for children to engage in purposeful play while caring for the plants and animals that sustain us and making good use of the harvest. Farm Campers will care for a production garden, harvest vegetables, make cheese, collect eggs and bake pizza from scratch, among many other hands-on, exciting farm and garden activities.

Field Trips

Berkshire Botanical Garden offers age and grade-appropriate programming for schools, homeschoolers, youth organizations, preschoolers, and daycare centers. BBG programs cultivate scientific discovery through inquiry-based instruction and memorable hands-on activities that allow students to draw upon prior knowledge and extend learning into new areas.
